I havent posted any hunts in a while but I had to put this up. We had plans to go to a honey hole but it fell through. Me & Joe decided to go down to the road to a spot we hunt a bunch. Sometimes you get on pigs sometimes not, but it is easy goin and can be hunted on wheelers. I had my 5yr old boy Dalton out for his first real hunt so I wanted easy going.

We came in the gate, cut loose the dogs and started our usual rounds. didnt make it 200 yds from the gate and were on pigs. Got us one caught and were getting the hobbles on and I got dog bit on my pinky pretty good. I was sittin on the hog just a bleedin every where so Joe just stuck it so we could doctor my damn bleeder. My boy was wound for sound I tell ya. it werent a big hog but he thought it was. He said on the way home..."Dad, i believe you and Joe have the best dogs in the world" shhhh yall dont tell em we hunt a bunch of s**t eaters!!! anyway here he is with the pig.

Great story muleman!
Young Dalton is fit to be tied for the next hunt so look out! You'll have to start sneaking out with the dogs if you ever plan to hunt without him now. Grin

Pecos, Big'un is like American express. we dont leave home without him. We didnt need to cut him loose because the big yella dog already had it caught, but Dalton was having none of it. He wanted to watch Big'un catch a hog! He loves that dog!

Mule Man I just have to tell the funny part of that story, well when the dogs got one singled out and got him caught me and mule man went in and got the little boar caught and flipped and was talkin about hobblein him to do some training with later and then figured out that the hobbles were on the wheeler which was about twenty yards away so I flew to the wheeler to get the hobbles and when I came out of the trees Daltons eyes looked like half dollars cause he could hear every thing but could no longer see the hog and that little feller looked at me so serious and said " is he chewin on my dad" and went right back to what he was doin. I couldn't hardly get the hobbles undone for laughing at him.... that is one funny kid but we all had a good time includeing dalton...

Good to hear the boy had a great time. I never had kids as I was too busy working or hunting I guess, but I have two nephews that I have taken. One loved it, one didn't.

I have also taken buddies kids and its a blast to take a kid on his first hunt. I guess its because you sometimes get to see what is going on through their eyes and its all new to them.

Hey Mule Man, I was into mules for years myself. I raised QH's for about 25 years too. I had a good blue roan horse mule I rode for about 6-7 years and could do anything on him. He somehow poked a stick in his eye just out in the pasture, and even though the vet did all he could, he went blind in that eye. After that he was bad to shy around stuff on the ground. Don't know if it affected his depth perception or what, but I gave him to an old man that used to farm with mules years ago. The guy just wanted him for a pasture ornament to remind him of all the mules he had walked behind ........
