Do any of you have or have you ever had a pit that would strike and catch his own hog consistently? Seems like someone would have a line of em by now.

I used to have one. She would find and catch on her own. Her son is my walkin catch dog but he has found a couple on his own when I've let him run loose. I have another dog who mother was supposed to have been the real deal. Was told she'd trail a hog for miles by herself.

My CD will wind an take a hot track , I don't let him do it a lot because the little sucker will get gone an if you loose communication on the garmin could be caught for a long time ,

i love doing it that way...you just have to make sure you got long range antennas for the garmin lol the male will actually bring the small hogs back! but if you end up wanting a pup from them pm me..we should have a litter by the end of this year..or at least have her bred. this way of hunting isnt for everyone.

My female would number 2 she would get piggy before the dang strike dogs would sometimes. She was a pain if you were following a hog because she would smell pig and PULL.  This is one reason I bred her.

First time I ever went hunting I went with a guy who ran 4 pure pits. He caught hogs and joked there wasn't a hog too big for his dogs.

I got one that is Colby/cowboy and he will do it. I hunted him for the first 2 years of his life with some other dogs. The next two by himself. Now his 5th year he sits in the basket waiting on a bay but if my other dogs get gone I'll turn him out. In the last two weeks I turned him out twice and both times he found and caught.

I have caught a pile of hogs with him solo and he works just fine. Been times I wished I didn't have another dog. But it's not like he's my number one dog. I am sure there have been some really good pits out there but I doubt most would compare to a a jam up cur or hound.

Ive had a 3/4 pit 1/4 catahula straight lead in catch dog i used for about 6 months, had a pig show up behind my place and took em back there not thinking he would do anything.. well he found em and got his butt whooped!! he was cut down about 3 weeks , next time in woods i jus let him run with my strike dogs and sure enough we was loading dogs up and he was the only one left out . Went 530 and bayed by himself Huh? haha made my strike dogs look like fools! He caught soon as he seen me come in there with my light, but after that hunt i jus let him loose every time i went and he became my best strike dog... pretty crazy stuff but heck he got the job done every time we let him out! Fist time for everything i guess HAHA

nice dog! heck our bronx dog has out struck many curs...people are very surpised when they hunt with us..i have a black and tan that jam up and hes right there with her or even above her...bronx is about to be retired though because hes getting up there in years but we have all his offspring plus heineken taking over his job. hein will be there at his spot pretty soon. shes just younger than him .

My husband had a bulldog that we'd take out solo sometimes. He'd wind 'em, find 'em, bark twice and catch and hold best he could till we got there. He was amazing. Definately one of a kind. He was pure Eli bred. Tall black dog.
