Took the dogs out lastnight got on about a 150lbs boar. All the dogs did great. Both of my catch dogs got cut. The gyp was cut on her shoulder(nothing serious), but my male dog got cut under his bottom jaw, all the way trough to the tounge. Any advice on doctoring this kind of wound? I used peroxide and I didnt stitch it because I was told it would be more likely to get infected. Also for the ones who read my previous post about the problem with my catch dog, he is the one that is cut. He did a great job!

my bulldog took a cut like that . it was funny cause when he drank water and pulled his head up water would run out [ wich is a good thing ] keeps the wound clean and flushed out . put it on some anti-biotics for a bit and whatch for infection . took mine about 3 weeks to heal up , or i should say close up . doctor with cut heal and or veteracyn . the dog can't reach it too clean any dirt off the cut so just make sure it's clean .

The last cut my bulldog took was one like you say all the way threw his under jaw.  Give him a couple of good shots of regular antibotics in the next two three days then go get you 2 cc of LA 200 antibotics shot and man that stuff will knock it out in a hurry .  Gonna take a while for it to completly heal up those cuts like that heal slow but the LA 200 is very hot antibotic it will knock all the infection out of it then just keep it doctored after that .  Very impressed with the LA 200 just dont give much .  Also it may leave a knot were you give him the shot but it will go down in time be sure you rub it very good when you give it to him.

Mine is just now heeling up from the same thing from about a month ago. I went to the vet and got some anti biotics called smz and put some stuff called pink lady on It everyday. You can get that pink lady stuff at atwoods or vet office. Works great. It's like a pink pasty stuff that come in a jar with a lid with a swab on it for application.

just had the same problem with my dog and i faught an infection for two weeks !  be careful putting peroxide on dogs , i hear it can drive the infection deeper into the wound ,  just what vet told me .....?  give the dog some antibiotics for 7-10 days and get you some stuff called "PINK LADY"  its what they put on horses that they cant sew up .  it helps regrow new tissue and heals the wound twice as fast !  i put it on my dog and within 5 days he was starting to close up .  it looks like a small bottle of pepto bismol ! good stuff !

Its a strong antibotic injection.  I have never had a problem with it other than it left a knot were I give the injection .  You just cannot give very much of it maybe one time thats it .  Maybe some other have had a bad experince with it if so please sound off so we will know .

Thanks for all the advice folks. Ive been using veteracyn on it. And some sulpha tablets for antibiotic. But I will defenately get some of that "Pink Lady". What was the final verdict on the LA 200? Is it ok to use? And the underwood horse medicine, is that just a sav type stuff you put on the wound to help it heal?
