Before I start sorry for being so long winded. Went out tonight in the royse city area east of dallas. I got permission from a land owner in that area that had 200 acres of cornfields surrounded by woods. I went out there tonight as I was hunting I was looking for some fresh signs and didn't see anything then suddenly I heard my strike go off at 500 yards. Then cut the rest of my bays loose and held onto my lacy until I got closer then cut her loose. I was waiting for them to get things under controll then I look at that area and I'm 80 yards away, my little girl lacy that's been with me for a couple years now comes back walking with her head down and her tail between her legs. She came and sat by me. At first I was irritated thinking she just got thrown against a tree and gave up. Then I looked at her and she whined and layed down put her head on my boot and looked up and whined then rolled over as if to show me... She had been cut from her middle nipples to her puss just layed open. Not going to lie I'm use to this and putting them down but this brought tears to my eyes... Just put her down definately regretting what I did.
As for the boar it's the biggest one I've been on.. I wouldn't be lying if I said this pig was 300lbs with probably some 3" or greater cutters... But with only two solid bay dogs left it got away from me.

A vet couldn't have helped her? I wasn't there and i'm not judging you but i've seen quite a few gutted dogs that made it with a little medical treatment.

Poor girl, I hate to hear that. We had a gyp that got gutted once, but we tied a shirt around her and put her cut collar around her stomach. We stitched her up and got real lucky that she made it. Sorry for your loss. Hope you catch that sob one day soon

Ya there all rough but onl at the back end. She was still pretty young and going through what I call the "cutting period" where she learns to finally get back. Every time ive taken her out I've had to stitch her up seems like she couldn't learn to stay away from the head.
