I'm still dumbfounded from yesterday. As Blake (blakebh) would say, I D- it (D Minused it). I wasn't going to run this weekend, but decided what the hell and loaded em up anyways. Got to the spot around 12ish, and dropped the dogs, but it should've been 6-7 and not 12  Angry. Humid as hell. Good sign on the groud, and it was really moist so figured tracking wouldn't be that hard. They've been bedding down in the bamboo and creek bottoms, so I figured they'd be bedded up in mid day. Dog weren't acting very piggy for some reason, so we decided to walk in a bit and try to find some fresh tracks considering it was 12.  Shocked Then sure enough, race was on... had Fred, Pistol, Bit, Jane, and PJ. Ray brough Casey (Pistol's litermate sister). Dogs took off and were 1.14 in about 10 mins, then sat down with Bit (6-7 month old pup) foot for foot with em the whole way  Grin. So we went back to the truck, and went around to try and get close to em. I think they were in the bottom of a 30' deep creek that was pretty empty, but was muddy as hell. We got within about 600 yards and they broke, and took it 900 the opposite direction. We decided to let them try and get it stopped and settled down some and tire it out, but while waiting for this to happen I think what ever hog it was they were on ran them through a group and dogs went every which away... Fred and Casey took a track .8 and I guess got the slip somehow (which isn't like Fred), but it was mid day and humid as hell so oh well can't catch em all. Bit was hunting by herself where I thought they had struck the hog at. I luckly was watching the Garmin pretty close and saw that Fred and Casey had found our track and were headed towards the road, so I went and cut them off. Had all the dogs at this point except for Bit, so we headed to go get her. I think she may have been lost, but there is a small chance that she was on something... opened up a little bit and would go on point, and then run. So I said screw it, and we headed to her with Jane in tow. We got down in the creek bed, and sure enough there were hog tracks every where, and one of em was the same size as a boar that's given us the slip 3 times now. Bit was only 100 yards at this point, and wasn't moving very quick so I thought she either lost what she was barking at or was lost trying to find us. I was puzzled and aggravated just because this was an unusual hunt for Fred and Pistol. The only thing I could think of is that we've been hunting at night, and maybe the humidity got to them, IDK. Anyways, I figured I'd share my agravation with the board, and a picture I got of PJ and Jane.

Don't feel bad bud,.....even if we hunt for 50 years we will never understand what goes on in the woods with our dogs. We may have ideas and speculations, but we as humans cannot comprehend what our dogs do to find and keep track of a wild hog. Seems like you have some good dogs, don't fret over these type days, they're gonna happen to everyone now and then, if folks say they don't, they're not being truthful. Good luck next time out man..... Smiley

I know it's part of it... I just like to share, and I was bored as hell yesterday. LOL! I figured instead of just posting the pic, I figured I'd at least explain why there ain't any pics of dead hogs with it. LOL!  Wink Cheesy
