Well Nate, Wynn, Brian, and I all hunted the Boars of Texas Tournament. We turned out the Soco sisters, a pair of running catch dogs, at 5:00 and ended up with five sows on the ground in a hurry, all around 150 lbs. I swear there is burn marks across the fields and through the woods of that place from those two girls. It was one after another after another, we could hardly keep up! We went to eat at the buffet at 7:00 and fueled up for the rest of the hunt after that! Once we were all fueled up, we turned out again and ended up catching two more sows with Jade and Wynns dog Mac.

Turned out Mac and Jade at daylight on the other side of Wynns place and put Brians rough yellow dog stew down, and my rough yellow dog Dana down with them. Ended up catching a few in a hurry and had several split bays. Everything we caught was sows still around 150 lbs. When we were regrouping, to head back to the other side of the ranch, Jade bayed about half a mile out. We drove over to her and decided to just walk the rough curs in. We let them go around 100 yards out. Stew made it there first and bays solid, the hog broke on Dana though. She came right back to us with Stew right on her butt. He barely nips here in the read about twenty yards from us. The sow turns trying to catch stew but misses. Stew bays solid and here comes Dana. I was waiting for her to slow down and bay up, but she didn't hesitate. She goes right in for the catch and the sow sends her flying, Dana gets to her feet pins an ear and sits down with Stew joining right behind her. The sow was about 210-220 and our biggest pig of the tournament.

Wynns dad had seen some hogs cross a gap in the woods from the porch, so we went and grabbed Lacy (who has a broken foot and won't put it on the ground), Superman, and kept Jade on the ground with them. The track was about an hour and a half old but they burned it up and bayed solid within about two minuets. We send the Soco Sisters in but they had the whole sounder bayed and they scattered everywhere. All of a sudden on of the sows comes right back to us with Remi on her butt. Sow goes under a log and Remi ducks sideways behind her and snags her in the ham with Chica following up behind her right on an ear. Dogs had another bayed up across the road about three hundred yards away. We head to them and send the sisters again. This time Chica gets there first and slams and ear with Remi right behind her. Dogs rolled and had another bayed up shortly and the sisters slam again. By this time its about 12:30 and we are ready for lunch, so we grab the dogs and head to lunch.

We were pretty worn out and had 16 sows down by lunch so we laid up till around 4:00. We didn't have any weight, and we knew we needed to make something happen, so we bring 5 dogs and cast them in all different directions. We decided we would hunt till we got a total of 20 hogs, no matter their size, and call it a tournament. The dogs all bay together about 600 yards out and we head to them. Wynns catch dogs seal the deal on another sow. Dogs roll out, Lacy and Jade end up three miles out and superman and two of Wynns yellow dogs end up two miles out. Superman and the Yellow dogs first for another sow, they roll out and bay another sow about 300 yards away. We get her caught and finally head to Lacy and Jade. Mac had joined them by now and they were all hammering. We get there, send the catch dogs and the green briars and cedar trees started to shake. I bail in expecting a monster, but it was a boar only about 200 lbs. A little disappointing but it was our 20th hog and I was glad we finally got a boar. We had 20 hogs, 18 sows around 150 lbs 1 sow around 220 lbs and one boar around 200 lbs, caught by 6:30 saturday evening and decided we had given it out best effort.

It was a good hunt with some good guys. We hunted hard and put up the numbers, we just couldn't put up the weight this time. 20 hogs with no injuries except a few lame dogs from the locust thorns. I don't think I have ever caught that many sows in a row! But Im glad we entered and we got plenty of spots saved for the later tournaments. After all those hogs caught I still don't think we put a dent in that place either! Didn't have much time to take pictures but here is a few.

The Soco Sisters, Remi and Chica, geared up and ready to catch sows haha.

This is the first five sows the girls put down before supper friday evening

From left to right on the bigger sow, Jade, Stew, and Dana
