I've been hunting with a few people that do this. If any of you know the vasquez family out of the Kaufman area that's who I've hunted with a couple times. Until here recently they've used just bay dogs and roped the pig. Seems pretty fun.. Anyone tried it? If so post your stories pictures etc... By the way they're a fun group to go out with. Good dogs and have taught me a lot the few times I've gone with them.

that's the way i started out . just a couple of ruff catahoula's and a kid rope , a regular lasso is to big and bulky in my opinion . and then thar's all that brush to contend with . most times all i could do was run in and rope a leg and tie it to a tree or haul the back leg into the sky  then pull one dog off and tell the other to let go . lot's of fun ?  lol i did it that way for about 4 years then said to hell with it and just started sticking the big ones on the spot .

Hahah you ever get charged while trying to rope it? I had that happen to me last weekend... It was only me and my catch dog wasn't with me so I roped the damn thing and I was doing what you did but instead of pullin away it ran straight at me haha found my self half way up a tree before I could get down and finish the job.

Man, I know ya'll are hunting different woods & different hogs then me. Our cutovers & Roso cane patches, there is no way you could get a rope on a hog, much less ride a horses in there. We have mostly russian hogs also & if they smell you or see you they are gone. I have gone in a couple of times on the downwind side & caught them by hand a couple of times but that is rare in our part of the country.
