Alot of times when hogs bay up it will be in a creek or river or pond (tank as some call it) does anyone have a good method for getting em out alive? I always put a lariat rope on my cds vest straps and when he catches I pull it in like fishing! Sometimes it works good other times I pull him off and he will eventually get too tired to hold on swimming with a vest plus pulling a hog. I hunt a lot on big creeks and rivers so on big hogs just letting cd go isn't really an option because they can drown or it could take me 20 to 30 minutes to get around to other side

Swim, or wait until the bay dogs push the hog to the bank. We have done both depending on the location.

Wait for the hog to get out of the water till you send the bulldog. Or get wet

That is how I roll. I keep zip lock bags in my gear. I put my phone in a bag and my wallet with my hunting license in another bag. I tend to go in without thinking. I think my dogs better go get that pig wherever it is. So I better get there and catch that pig wherever it is. I try to bring a couple changes of clothes for a reason. But I normally just go find water and get water in my boots when I start a hunt so I don't woory about getting my feet wet.

Well most of my hogs are pets so i just tell my ole dog Superman to bring em up outta that creek and bay em up!  Man, its simple if you know there in the water hold your cd back till you fill comfortable tying a hog!!  There isn't any better way than anyone else.  THere is always going to be those tough ones but waiting till the right moment is going to be your best bet!  Good luck and eat your wheaties before you go next time!   Wink
