I dont think some people realize what it takes to get dogs started and to finding hogs on a regular basis with the right upbringing .   Number one you need to have a good line of dogs on both sides of the family and the dogs parents  good dogs themselves.  Number two you got to wait 63 days till the liter gets here .  Then you got to raise and take care of all the pups parvo , worm and everything else .  Then number three comes in you got to wait and wait and wait some more till they get 8 ,10 months old .  Start them out on the right size hogs and pigs supervise them and have the experince to be able to look at them and evaulewait them .   Then number four comes in you got you a couple of them ready to go to the woods this is one of the most important stages of the dogs game here.  Ready to take them to the woods but you dont have any real good good dogs to run them with so you go ahead being inexperinced are maybe just hard luck you run them with some half asses dogs that are not really dogs themselves just dogs some trashy some not some breaking bays some not some to loose some to catchy.  What this does is just impale bad habits on your new young dog .  Now you run these two young dogs with these half assed dogs and now they are a mirror image of the dogs you been running them with .  Now folks this is hard bad habits very hard to break once they are instilled into a young dog .  On the flip side of this you got your two young dogs ready to go to the woods you yourself have some pretty dang good dogs so you start them out right your older dogs dont trash they find hogs on a regualr basis and the young dogs are enjoying and are getting the right knowledge and everything progresses as the pups get on up to 15 18 20 months old and by the time they are 24 months they are running and gunning with the big dogs.  I dont think people realize how much it means to run young up coming dogs with really good dogs .  It makes all the difference in the world .  I know a lot dont have access to be able to run their good young pups and  young dogs with good good and even great hog dogs .  My advise to you if you do not is take them out and run them by themselves were there is good hog numbers and let them learn the hard way not the wrong way .

Really and truly if you do not have good dogs to run your new young dogs with you are just pissing in the wind for the most part .  Running  young dogs with really good dogs has a lot lots to do with dogs turning out to be great dogs .  Bloodlines and breeding can only go so far then it is up to the owner and handler of dogs to bring the rest out ,  Its just like a kid you teach him the wrong way what happens ,  well yall  know the anwser to that so its the same with you young pups and young dogs .  Bring them up the right way and you have way less trouble when they are older and way better chances of them turning out to be something .

Luckily like you said hunt them were hogs are everywhere and let them learn. It is workin out so far but would be nice to have that one bad dog for them to learn with.

I can tell you from experience my experience.  Like the dogs I got out here.  I most the time run Horn , Whitey , Ole Blu, Bell and now Little Horn .    Now not so much Little Horn yet but he is on his way to part of the pack but if I was to loose one of those dogs out of my pack of regular dogs it has a affect and sometimes a big effect just depending on which one goes down for a while.  Those dogs all work together as a team each does his on part what ever it may be .  Knock one of those dogs out and the pack suffers till they are back in .  Whitey runs deep , Horn runs med to deep, Bell runs short to med and Little Horn will run deep and med deep with Whitey are Horn and Ole Blu well she is just old Blu she is going to were the hogs are Long distance are a 150 yd .  All can and will find their on hog and all can and will jump in and help catch if that is what they decide to do .  They all know pretty much what they can handle and what they cannot handle and wait for the gun are the CD are CD's to get there.   I have been hunting by the river for the most part this year and I cannot take the Cracker dog because lots of times we cannot get across the river and he is gonna not test but catch it don't matter how big are how bad and you have to be able to get there on the spot are suffer the consequences .   But yeah Handle It I know what you are talking about you loose a good one and you suffer till you get one back in there like that but those kinds of dogs don't grow on trees.  Am hoping with these liters I bred with this Cracker dog to my dogs that I hit that happy medium of just the right grit stoppem and hold em if not know what you can catch and hold it till we get there.  My old Blu gyp is one of those that is like the Cracker dog only difference is she is one that knows what she can catch are cannot catch and just hold them she is getting old and am hoping one of these pups can be put in her place not take her place cause I dont think that can be done but be half as good as she is  .
