I can tell you that it is not fun to run them at night! I dropped my walkers at a place i hunt and was gunna go coon huntin we dropped on a fresh one and the race was on! Tree then it would bail out tree and bail as soon as it heard us getting anywhere close or seeing the lights the would bail! I came home late that night and told my dad the next morning i didnt know what they were doin! He said if they were doing that it was a bobcat i finally got tired of chasinf them and caught the dogs

If you happen to find some from a reputable person pm me if you don't mind, I have been interested in em for a few years myself........sounds like alotta fun.......I'd love to have a dog or two to tree cats, i've always thought it would be pretty dang cool to walk in behind em and bust em with a bow, and its just one more way to get in the woods!

Halfbreed had a Walker gyp that would run one on our old stomping grounds. She would run that same cat every time or a couple different coyotes if you didn't get her on hogs, lol.

I have a couple of friends who run them. For the most part here in the south, they use running walkers & catch about 75% on the ground. The way it was explained to me, the thicker the ground, the more apt the cat was to stay on the ground. Down here where it is thick if a dog even thinks about looking up, they get to far behind the cat. I have heard there are some guys in west Tx., & so. Tx. who have had luck treeing some. Up north in more open woods, they tend to tree better. A bobcat for it's size is a gutsy animal & does not mind mixing it up with a hound at all. You should go on biggame houndsman under the cat section & there is a wealth of knowledge on Cathunters & cathunting.

Ya I was told that by a buddy of mine he lives out in west texas and they run them down south he said the same thing but he don't know anyone that wants to get rid of any that's why I was going to ask around on here see I'd anyone knew where I might could find one in a member on big game to but they are all way to far to drive and after talking to my buddy he said most of the dogs hunted up that way would either be to cold nosed or way to slow for around these parts

lol don't be tellin everybody bout my ol trashy walker dog kevin . but yep that's why I got her she is out of big game hounds, tree dog with a touch of running hound in her from out west , and the mother to some great hog dogs . she is getting mighty old now and I hope I can get her bred one last time to a good walker dog so I can keep a pair for the future . cat's are extremely fun to hunt night or day . when we get on one at night while coon hunting we would just let the dogs run them till daylite . they have made a big come back and are everywhere now since the fur trade has dropped off . I used to let ol sugar run that old tom in the fields around the farm just for grins and to listen to her run . that old tom got so used to seeing me that he didn't even bother to run and hide when I saw him [ or he saw me ] lol I've got some 3/4 hound 1/4 cur pups now that a pair of them are going to new mexico to be run on cat's there running a 1/4 of the walker blood in them . I plan on keeping a pair and put on cat's and coon myself and when the opputunity presents it's self i'm headed west to finish my days chasing bears and cats as well , hopefully before i'm to broken down to keep up lol
