Quite a few years ago, before the days of GPS collars, we struck a hog about 6:30 one morning. Couldn't locate him for nothing. Had to go get materials for a fencing job. So around 10:00 am we left to get the materials then returned to get the dog. We had left the 4-wheeler so that the dog would come back and stay around till we returned. On our return there still was no sign of the dog. Found him at 2:00 that afternoon with a 150 lbs boar bayed in a brush pile on the bank of a river. Between the brush pile and being down in the river bed we just couldn't hear him bark over a 100 or so yards.
