Guess first question. Is there one or two pups?
Second is how do the pups parents hunt? Long or short range?
Also do you keep the pup or pups kenneled with the older dogs.

If they find pigs give em time. Try to hunt without the other dogs and see what they do. If they ain't interested in hunting then forget it.

If you have two pups, hunt them one at a time with an older dog. If they still dont roll out with your older dog, try penning them together. Also if when they come back, ignore them and tell them to get or whatever you use to tell your dogs to hunt.

I tried the ignoring thing and all they do is go over somewhere near by (20-30yds) and lay down for a nap, iv even put foot to a$$ n all that did was make them skidish so I stopped doing that, but I have learned to hunt 1 pup at a time, instead of 2 pups acting like pups do and playing instead of learning.

I'd definately give them time! We've had a few "late" bloomers that have turned out to be our best dogs.
There is a lot of great advice here, and I'd just add to the fact not to drop the two pups together. I'm assuming that they're litter mates since they're both the same age??
If so, and they tend to come back to you together, I wouldn't hunt them together anymore... at least for a while anyways until they know what they are out there to do- find hogs and not goof off.
In our cases, it has pulled them out of their comfort zone, and they tend to venture out further with the more experienced dogs. Hope this helps!
Good luck, and keep us posted!

Excellent advice from above. Would definitely try splitting them up and if possible......kenneling them with the older dogs or next to them. You already answered the genetic question. So no excuses later with that one. Also keep any junk off the ground while you are hunting them....ie...(the extras...or buddy dogs that are thrown into the mix at the last minute) No other puppies on the ground while hunting yours. Just like kids.....gonna pick up good traits.....or bad from elements around them. If all else fails.....especially by 2 yrs.........sharp shovel will cure all issues......or sell for finished dogs....no trial ! Jk

Best thing IMO is to take them out by themselves in good are with hogs and see what happens after 10 15 times take them with one good dog and they should do better
