They're is Black and Tan colored dogs in just about every cur dog line you look at.  I'm sure they're is as many good dogs colored that way as sorry ones.

Are you after a specific line or just a cur dog with that color?

It just has that color I guess. Growing up all we ever had around the house was ybmc and when we bred our dogs we never got anything but yellow with black mouths except the occasional red that popped up every once in a while. I didn't know if it was a particular line of dogs or a different breed of curs all together

There is a Black and Tan breed of hounds. The whole breed is black and tan in color. Just like any other breed, got some good ones , got some not so good ones.  In Cur dogs the black and tan is just a color variation. The dog above is a pure Cat that was the only black and tan of the litter. The
rest of the litter was spotted dogs and brindle or solid black. I kept him not because he was black and tan but because he showed the most promise as a pup. Pick the dog based on his attributes and weather or not he 's showing you something as a young pup. Don't pick a pup based on color.
Once in a while you can get the attributes you're seeking plus the color you like. That's why good Cat lines are getting hard to fine because breeders are breeding for color and hunters are choosing the spotted up glass eyed pups when they purchase a pup regardless of the flashy pups attributes.
