Lights on puppy's

I have never put a light on puppy's to keep them warm but it's getting cold here and going to be cold next week I was wondering what watt size light bulb do I need to use to help them stay warm the dog house is about 18 inches tall 18 inches deep and 2 foot wide I got two towels pinned over the door to hold heat in . I don't want to burn them up but want to keep them warm any suggestions are appreciated

  in that size of space a 60 to 100 watt will keep it nice and toasty .

My pups are in a plastic pool and I have a 250 watt red bulb hanging about 2 feet above them. They crawl in and out of the light depending on the temps... but that may be to hot in an enclosed dog house.

Ok thanks I'll get me a 100 watt bulb today. They was born jan 1st so their still little and she only had 4 I'm trying to do whatever I can to keep all them alive I'm pretty excited about these pups thanks

I got a 60 watt light bulb and it feels pretty nice in their now. When I posted this I was at work and still under the impression she had only 4 pups she had them jan1 st and yesterday she had 4 pups well today I get over there getting ready to install my light I start counting puppy's I count 9 heads I wonder why she waited so long to have the other 5 pups I never had a dog wait two days later to have the other half ?

I wouldn't want'm to get too hot either.  I would get a cheap little thermometer and a 60 watt bulb and see what temps you get. That small of a space with a towel over the door may make it a little too hot. I'd just double check what kind of heat you can get out of a 60 or even a 40...

I have a 4ft X 4ft box thats 24 inches tall. I run a 100 watt on it, but they have the momma in there too. I've never had a problem. It has a cloth door too.

What ya got going Bo. I seen Scotty two days ago and he said TaterBug was low on dogs. How are they bred.

I haven't been doing a lot lately just working and trying to stay warm. Yea bug is low on dogs now he's got two that's still good dogs and several young dogs that just need hunting as soon as deer season goes out. These pups I got bred are just mixed up dogs but both parents are what I like in a dog the dad is long range hunter tons of bottom real leggy suppose to be a catahoula cur dog but I don't know ,but he's good at  trailing if I put him in a track he usually will run it baying it is a different story haha but  the mom is a little black gyp I got last year she will go pretty good too none of that standing around looking up at you type dog and she goes back to a dog named black man that bug had from years back before my time that was suppose to be a heck of a dog. When I started hunting these two dogs I wanted to make this cross so we will see. I think the pups will be dogs that leave when let out of the box with a good bit of bottom and good noses. We will see in about two years what they will be. I talk to Scotty just about every day I wanted to come up there and hunt with y'all some just couldn't make the time.  Are you still hunting them two dogs you had when I came up there

I use them more on cows these days,  but they will still work on hogs. It's tough to get on hogs consistently in these mountains with short range dogs. Scotty and Albert have got some solid dogs going. Those were some good hogs you posted pics of.

Warren that's some me and bug caught. Scotty is probably going to come down here some this summer and hunt with tater bug some you ought to try to talk Scotty into bringing you with him and get in some if this Alabama hunting in the briars.
