Just got a Ranger, was thinking about mounting a huge coachwhip antenna on it and getting the adapters to plug a garmin in to it. I know it can be done, but has anyone does it or know how it works?

I haven't done it myself but thought about. I do know a 102 whip is a full wave length antenna which is why it works so well on a CB.

Get you a 4 ft. whip antenna made at a radio shop tuned to 152.5 mhz., 3db gain with the necessary SMA connectors and cable made up to connect to your handheld. haven't had a need
for one myself, but was told by a guy at a radio shop that this is what will work best.

Matt i was just in radio shack today looking at antennas and hunting a sd card for the handheld. The hook-up they have to "get in to the garmin-out to the antenna" looks about like the riggin you got in your huntin bag lol. It was going to run me 60 bucks just for a small magnetic rig, be closer double for cb with mounts. Might check online for the garmin fitting, mounted directly to the antena cable. They were tryin to make me buy all these male to male couplings, pigtail fittings, it took like 5 pieces to put it all together. Lord knows ya need a SUPER antenna with sue burning up the woods lol

Thanks for the help everyone, I'm not sure was just wanting something that could help range that I could leave mounted to the Ranger. I have a wide array of other long range antennas, and performance was ok at best.
Peachcreek is this what you were referring to?
