I see good stories here and there, but I thought it'd be fun to have one thread dedicated to everyone's personal most memorable hunts. Hope to read some great stories here!

You know after 20+ years of chasing these ol' hogs, I don't think I can say that I have ONE favorite hunt. This hobby most definitely has given me the chance to make some great friends from coast to coast. Thinking back my mind is flooded with thoughts of great hunts, but the hunt that keeps coming to the front is real simple. It was the last hunt I had with my old Vegas dog. I decided that I would make a round late one morning but knew I had better hurry as a front was on the way. The dog I'm catching with now had a real minor cut so I decided that I would take Ol' Vegas. I hadn't hunted him in several months but knew He would be ok because it was cool and going to get colder. I pulled in the gate and collared ol' Roscoe, Red, and Georgia and cast them from there. While I was sitting there waiting, the front blew in and I mean it was blowing. I moved on down towards the dogs and all three were scattered out. Naturally I started watching Roscoe on the garmin because he is the most experienced and I didn't figure I would be able to hear over the wind. He knew they were there but couldn't line them out so Roscoe just kept making smaller, tighter circles over the same area until he found them. As luck would have it, They were baying about 100-150 yards from where I stopped the truck. I dropped Vegas out and vested him and away to the bay we go. He stepped right into the vest and could hear the bay the whole time. I never led him and not one time did I say Vegas get back here. I walked up to the thicket and told him to stay back, which meant get behind me, while I eased in on a trail to see what was happening. I could see that they had what looked like about a 150# boar bayed. He was standing right in the middle of some thick briars that were almost waist high to me and about 10 feet in diameter with no trails in or out. At this point I was standing about 30 feet from them. I stepped aside and sent Vegas to them. I was curious as to how this was gonna play out with no easy way in, but Vegas never bobbled. I guess he knew there was no door in and went airborne and right over the top. POW, a mouth full of ear and a caught hog. The others followed suit and I stuck the hog. I told Vegas caught hog and he let go. I drug the hog at to the opening and told Vegas to sit/stay and took a couple pictures. It wasn't the best hog I ever caught or the most exciting hunt, but watching those two older dogs perform to my version of perfection was the reason I love doing this so much. My family is the only thing I get more satisfaction from.

The hunt I think about all the time was the first one I went on. I was probably somewhere between 7 and 10 years old. We went and stayed at a camp on the river the night before just the guys you know it was a lot of fun for us kids we got to cook out and didn't have power down there and the next morning some guys with dogs met us to go hunting. I didn't know squat about a hog or a dog but I remember looking through the open swamp land looking at that dog hunt and thinking man he looks good doing that he was gliding made it look easy. And I remember the guys said they are bayed I was thinking what are they talking about bayed so we go around there can start to hear them barking everytime we stop the four wheeler. They must could of heard them off in the distance I didn't know to listen for all that. But as we get closer I can hear them and I remember that big bulldog pulling that man and he ask me if I wanted to lead him and I think that's what done it for me but I did lead him and we got close he reached and un snapped him and caught hog. I'm sure I was all in the way but I thought I needed to see this haha. Well I remember that bulldog barking and had blood in his mouth and that man got a limb and was poping him telling him to shut up. And I told my self when I get older I'm getting some hog dogs. We caught 5 that day and when we was done hunting I was ready to go so I could go home and tell my daddy all about that. But I have had several other great hunts but I remember this one a lot I guess because I was a little boy and was interested in this.
