Bear Mystery
Pineland on Parade
Saturday, September 25, 1965
Four hunters from Vidor killed a bear in San Augustine County, near Bronson Front, at the south end of the county Line Road, southwest of Pineland in 1964.
After hauling the bear carcass to the Pineland square and posing for Pictures in front of the crowd that had gathered, they found out it was illegal to kill a bear in Texas.
The second picture, below, hung in A.J. Jackson's barber shop until he died.
The names in the news articles don't match, and I wonder if it's the same bear.
The Diboll Free Press caption says the bear was killed on December 24, 1964, which was a Thursday.
The other article says the bear was killed on a Saturday.
Maybe one of y'all can solve this mystery.
