Hunting accident

Late last week a fellow from up in my area was shot by a guide in British Columbia while grizzly hunting. He had wounded the bear the day before and they waited a day then went looking for it. It charged them and the hunter was shot by one of the guides by accident. They were like like 7 hrs from the nearest town so he had no chance, but it sure got me to thinking about who I would be comfortable hunting with when they were packin. I know the topic of carrying a firearm has been knocked around a bunch but you better know the folks who are behind the trigger!

Dang That sucks! Now days You really need to watch out! I do guided hog hunts with guns and i don't let any firearms loaded until ready to take the hog over bait or under feeders . I don't let any semi auto guns on the hunt either, just a personal decision.  Sad how fast things can happen!

i been at this with pistols or the occasional rifle on dog hunts for over 37 years now and so far no accidental shootings.but friends  have had dogs shot and one stuck in the head with a big knife.  three friends have been stuck  and one actually had his hand pinned to a huge boar hog when he was in high school.a few years ago here locally a guy was shot  by his companion when they were lookin for a hog they had shot with a bow . the hog came out of the tall weeds aand charged the guy who fired 2 or 3 shots with a pistol. he hit and killed the hog but also killed his friend .

Accidents happen and nobody involved is not affected. I am real apprehensive when it comes to guns on hunts. I have been accidentally shot once and don't intend it to happen again. The biggest factor to me is knowing the man with the gun and how he handles it. I carry a pistol but only once did I use it. It is a last resort. A stranger I'm not letting behind me with a gun. If I ever hear that safety click when not needed the hunt is over. Hog hunting is surely dangerous but not as dangerous as an idiot with a gun. One other thing I do not allow on a hog hunt is alcohol. U want to drink fine. Drink all u want when the hunt is over and the dogs are in the box.

that is a sad deal all the way around, a buddy of mine went to arkansas on a duck hunt a few years ago and on the way to the blind for the morning hunt the guide shot him through his wrist point blank with a 12 gauge he was VERY lucky not only to be alive but to end up being able to keep his hand, he still doesn't have full use of it but its there all the same............ guide should have never loaded the gun but thats neither here nor there, I can guarantee you one thing, that accident changed more than just his life, accidents whether preventable or not can and do happen, its our job to minimize the risk. I personally do not like guns being involved in a hunt but I always have my pistol in my bag, just in case.

A few years back a good friend from church went to Africa on an elephant hunt. They go over there every year to hunt all types of game. They were stalking a bull not realizing the 2nd bull was close by.....they are very territorial-during the charge from the 2nd bull they were running to get away-his friend tripped and lost his life that day.
Always take caution of who u are with and know your surroundings.
