Last week Circle T- Tanner and I made another run with 2 of his upcoming pups and catch dog I ran My Django pup and Kirby my finished dog , Well let the dogs go at 6:30 am, Not a min later the dogs got a hog struck 200+ yard and the race begin! Not sure who started the hog because 3 dogs opened up at once .... Well around 11:00 am and after burning are pups off, My Kirby dog finally got her to Bay up!  We walked in 60 yards from him and cut the catch dog loose.. Well there was more then one hog we found out as the bay broke and the catch dog went in opposite directions. Kirby got the hog stopped about 75yds from where the bay broke last an kirby drew the catch dog back are way, We caught the catch dog up and walked in to 50 yards again an cut the catch dog loose again but this time he sealed the deal( I don't think he got to see the hog the first time we cut him loose)! Well kirby rolled out to 500 yard and struck the hogs again but it was So hot we called him out for 30mins  finally I ran him down! This 100 lb sow we caught and the others hogs we didn't catch sure burned some pads off kirby barely making it back to the truck on his own!   Pretty good hunt with a good friend and some good dog work!

I am not by any means trying to be an hole in the butt or diss your program AT ALL. But I'm just curious, do you like havin a race like that? I get pissed off when a hog breaks once & we have 10 more minutes to wait. Are most hogs you strike big runners like that or was this just a coincidental thing? I guess I'm so interested is because if you do have lots and lots of runners why not throw a real gritty dog in the mix to try and end a race? Like I said obviously what you have goin is workin just fine & you're puttin down pork I'm just curious.

Well It doesn't always end in long races but i don't mind! The dogs we run are breed with lots of bottom.  I do not want a gritty dog to be busting bays where the hog decides to bay up or lay down. Our catching out miles away.. We hunt to much to have strike/bay dogs to get cut up from running gritty dogs with are strike dogs.. Now after a catch dog hits they can help catch. But i train my dog to role out as soon as i have a hand on the hog.  We Only Ran 1 finished dog and 3 pups,  2 under a year an one just over a year. So it became a 1 dog show hunt because the pups bottom is about 3 hours right now.. In are neck of the woods the hogs don't like to much pressure while getting bayed.  Some times we can stack them like firewood in that same spot so it happens Sometimes.

Ah, I understand. I also realized when I read it again how many pups y'all had on the ground. Nice work!
