Anyone cross these? I'm looking for a RCD and would like something like this I thought about a stag/pit but don't want something big ... I know "barefoot bob" from west tx (don't know his real name) breeds some but don't know how to get ahold of him... If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated!

We have one of our APBT bitchs right in heat right now and are pondering doing the cross. I'll know in a day or two.

Do not know much about the cross other then what I have read but I would definitely go the route of the stag. Pretty much the same size as an actual greyhound just much tougher and built to work in the woods better. I do know greyhounds tend to be pretty fragile as my grandparents had a couple of rescues when I was young. If you want something smaller just use a smaller bulldog. I think there are prob more good small bulldogs than large. Just a thought. Good luck with whichever way you go.

They don't handle the heat as well. I have hunted coyotes and hogs with them and heat and humidity both effect them more than my other dogs.

I have have heard, emphasis on "HEARD" more than once that greyhounds are very thin skinned and that can cause problems in the thick brush as far as for using them for hog hunting but I have also seen on here and other sites people who have used both greyhounds and greyhound crosses with success for hog hunting. Best of luck in your endeavors with them!

there is another option...leggy APBT x july or APBT with a leggy fast hound...look for a taller type hound to get a decent sized dog...this way if you want a dog with a colder nose you can have speed, hunt, nose, and catch if your lucky...2 of these dogs running with the pack might be all you need...

My question is why grey/pit. You can get speed with other dogs. Catch you can get with other dogs. You can get both with out the thin skin and bones.  This is my problem with them.  Think in all reasonable purposes dane/pit ridge/pit deer hound/pit or a good cur dog will get the same general results with less hassles in the end

I wouldn't mix in a sight hound if I wanted an RCD. Wouldn't want to risk losing a good nose.

I know you asked about greyhound but stags are more agile in addition to the other traits already mentioned. The agility comes thru in the crosses.

I would find a local hunter who has running hounds and make that cross , the dogs are bred for your climate and area and running hounds will hold up better and longer than sight hounds, but in the end your the one who has to feed them so go for what you want
