I love talking to the old timers. Back when i use to coon hunt my buddys dad would go with us. His name was "smokey" Flynn. I think they called him smokey because he would light one cigarette off of another and smoke all night long. He was originally from north Carolina. He was to old to walk to the tree with us unless i had brought my 4wheeler and sometime it would make it all the way to the tree. I tought his old ass how to ride it and it was on buddy! We would be at the tree before he would but you can believe if there was a way there on that wheeler he wasnt far behind. We were shining a tree one night with 3 good honest dogs glued to the side of it and couldn't find the coon for nothing. Ole smokey pulled up and shut the wheeler off. He said "y'all cut them bright ass lights off and let me show you something". We cut our lights off and he took his walking stick off the wheeler, lit his cigarette lighter above his head and started knocking on the side of the tree with that stick. He said "now when i say so, yall shine for him again". He gave the command and we turned our lights on and there were 2 coons looking down at us. He said tomorrow mornin boys i want yall to stare at the sun for as long as you can. I bet it wont last long and you wont look at it again. That old man was a trip and made any hunt fun. He cussed like a sailor and told the nastiest jokes in history..hahaha..i havent talked to them folks in a while. I sure hope that old man is still around !!

He was/is...he also was a bluetick man. He always tried to get me revved up because i ran walkers. He said those were meant for deer. Everytime my dog would open up on track he'd say he was running a "whitetail" and teaching the blue dogs bad habbits...haha..good times
