Both will get the job done, but my preference is for a drop point over a clip point, so I would go with the second one

Agreed, but for the black knofe, if put some reflective tape on it for night ops in case you drop it, it can be found by the reflection of the tape.

I use a benchmade auto opener pocket knife with a 3 1/4" blade, plenty big enough to get into the heart/lung area and get the job done, and its still a 1 hand opener

I've got a cold steel SRK that I've been using for 15 years. Reflective tape isn't a bad idea...then again, I haven't had the occasion to drop it yet...of course I'm knocking on wood as I type this  Smiley

After getting lost on an island 1 nite and thinking i was gonna have to stay till daylight during doe season and flood water, i now put reflective tape on EVERYTHING. Well nearly everything, my benchmade doesnt have it bc its got a clip on it n its hard to get in n out of the pocket, but all my tracking collars, wheeler, feeder, cam, ladder, climber n lock on stand, and my pig waggon, but the waggon is more for other drivers to see it easier. The tape i use can been seen at over a mile with a good light and its only 1" wide.
