Got off work and loaded a little yella cur named Kate. Decided we'd go walk a loop at a spot of mine. Been hitting hogs in the area but they hadn't bed in the place in a while but it's quick and easy to walk so we went. Right off the back see some good tracks just wasn't sure how old they were. Kate hunting alright. Wind Is 9 mph out of north with is perfect for this place. Through the first creek and head up towards the hill. There's a flooded yaupon bottom at the base of it. Start getting close to that bottom and Kate's throwing her head good. See some older rootin and she rolls north. Starts curving up west and eases on out to 260 and let's me know she's looking at a hog... start heading her way and the hog I knew she had turned out to be quite a few hogS! sounder goes to rallying and I pick up my pace a little. 70 yards and I gotta leave the trail and cut into this nasty yaupon thicket. Grunting and squealing every which way some close some Farther but I can't see hogs. Stop, gets some video for Facebook, finally kate gets a few hogs grouped tight and pushed up towards me where I can see them. Go probe and but a .44 mag in a boars shoulder. Pigs start running everywhere. Throw the lever and put a shot on a good sow. Kate takes off out of there after a hog and gets bayed some 160 yards away. Start heading to her and come across the boar laid over breathing, put another in him and get a picture. Head to kate. Get to 2nd bay she's got a good sow hemmed up on back side of a tank dam in some briars. Crouch down about 20 yards away and she's looking me right in the eyes when I squeezed off. She dead. 2 down forsure and toned kate off another track. Got home before 8 pm. Fun little evening hunt. Proud as heck of that dang yella dog.
boar. 130-150 somewhere. Not as small as picture makes him look. Just good hog.
