Well we started out as planned. Turned dogs out and they acted like they had something in their noses and with the sign on the ground I figured it wouldn’t take long. They struck with the pup being with em and he never missed a lick on the half mile round. Got a boar hog stopped and we made him a little lighter in the rear and cut him loose. Drove down a little but didn’t see no fresh sign but I had a notion there should be some more around. Well when I cast em this round they had to go deep. Too deep when they found one on some private property I had no idea who it was for. But luck helped us out cause the guy just so happened to be out there cutting some lanes of his. When we run into him he was all for goin in to shoot the big sow. Lol. He said they ate all his feed for the winter but never would show for him to shoot em. It was a good round but I wish I wouldn’t have made em go to the next county line to find one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Come on maaannnn you gotta do better lol. Nah, I’m with you. I don’t know your place or your hogs but around here, those ole solo boats are usually a little closer to the sounder than that. I would’ve bet there was something closer. I don’t know if you can make a dog much prettier than that hound in the second picture, man what a looker. Makes me wish I had bred in plot instead of border collie. You got lucky on the land owner. Seems like anymore the odds are against you finding one that’s rational. Congrats on that!

Good hunt and great for the puppy. Also nice to meet a new landowner and he is receptive to the idea of killing a hog over the dogs. Well done.

Man the gyp that the pup of off of throws some sure enuff Color in pups. I’ve bred her twice and their colored brindles as much as a feller could ask for. About 60 % of those litters are sure enuff hog dogs over the yrs. Now the other gyps I’ve bred were off Cajuns line and for those litters they have about a 80% output of sure enuff independent do it all by them selves hog dogs. There colors were mostly black and dark brindles. I’m gonna have to go mow Mr Mikes yard and do some beggin one day to get another one from him. LOL. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Good hunt and a pretty young dog as well as your hunting partner. How is the female bred that is throwing those loudly brindled dogs?

I bought a gyp from Dan back in the 90's, unfortunately she didn't turn out. Also, there was a lot of those dogs out here in California back then that the bear hunters were using. They were pretty well pleased with them. (Star and Jett are a couple names I remember). I think I saw a post Dan did saying he went through a tough divorce and got out of the dog business (understandable enough), I was just wondering of anyone else picked up the torch. Thanks
