I've got three 5mo puppies that are burnin' some pork up in a pen. When do ya'll think I should take them to the woods?

i always start them early, but until they can jump in the back of my truck, that's when they go to the woods!

Depends on the maturity level of the pups. I usually start them in the woods around a year old, but work them on "staged hunts" from 3 months on. These pups i'm raising now I started at 9 months in the woods... but they were very mature for their age and all buisiness when it comes to hunting.

i like to put mine in the woods around 7-8 months old, just to give them experience and let em go w/ the big dogs.

7-8 months is good, although I started taking my bmc at 5 1/2 months but he was very mature for his age. It definately depends on the maturity of the dog.

I have two pups that are a year old last sept. I hunted them all winter , they have been on thirty plus hogs before they where 9 months old in the woods with seasoned dogs and now finding there own hogs , one seems to be a better dog than the other one , so she go"s on almost every hunt
