It's getting on towards hog huntin" time for me so I've exercised Grip a time or two. He is 95 lbs. of pure love until you turn him on a hog.

He is a pure Dogo, his Daddy was Chris Scott's La Cocha dog named Caesar, and his mother was from Bob Cox via make em sqeel's PPC dogs. Whether on foot or riding the mule he follows off leash and is used 95% of the time solo.

Often when we have pups running loose here in the winter they sleep with him and he will let them eat with him.

He’s a specimen for sure. He’s my ideal type. Sounds like he has that right disposition too.

Ole Gripp is looking good for sure. One of the few I have hunted with that is a real catchdog.

Thanks guys, we like him here. I had his uncle before him and he was an excellent catchdog with a good disposition but wasn't as eye appealing as Grip is, but hey pretty is as pretty does.

I don't let him hunt and rarely see hogs before they are bayed while hunting but I think 3 times I have turned him on hogs that weren't bayed. One we saw and so did Grip he ran it down and caught it, and twice I sent him behind where I saw hogs cross (basically a smokin hot track) and each time he caught one. I sent him another time where we had saw some hogs cross and he went about 500 yds and quit the track.

very nice looking dog. I really like the Dogo and the crosses. A good one is hard to beat.
When it was time for me to find another catch dog I was looking for one. Unfortunately it seems they are getting bigger in the pet market and they were super overpriced. i dont mind paying for a pup at all. But $2500-$4000 for a catchdog pup is more for this old boy to cough up.
Glad you have one doing the deed. Very fine looking animal and hopefully he has a long career.

No doubt those are hard to find.. We are raising a pup now that is off our stock of dogos that we have used for more than 15 yrs and can only hope that he carries the same brain matter as his family before him.. Ones like yours are like 4 leaf clovers and a joy to hunt with....

I was fortunate to be gifted with his uncle, then his mother. I understand they are not all created equal but did happen to fall into a high percentage good strain of them. It doesn't just hold true with Dogo's but there are good and bad in all breeds of working dogs.

HIGHWATER, have y’all been line breeding your dogs?
Old man that’s one of the truest most accurate statements that’s been told. The good, the bad, and the ugly are in every breed.

On this last round of breeding ,, I went outside to a granddaughter of my line off of another male dog and then to one of our males ,, but the gyp had 4 males and 4 females so hopefully they got the sense we need,, The male dog we had to go out too has got what it takes so all around should be good..

Sounds like an excellent plan…I think that is one of the best ways to freshen up the bloodline without going out too far from what you have already developed…

You have of the best looking Dogo's I've seen. Too many of those 120+ show Dogos or Shogo's. He looks like a catching machine.
