Went on a camping trip after thanksgiving. This is the bank of a local area. If the pic was panoramic the gators go on for another fifty yards or so to the right.

Wouldnt be too good of a pond to let the dogs get a drink at!!!
I believe they need some population control in there though.

I wonder how many fish, coons, hogs, etc those gators eat in a years time, that is a lot of animals there.  Good pics!

Sarasota Florida.
It is in Myakka state park.  There is a 150' hole there and when the other lakes and marshes start drying up they all congregate there. It is a cool site to see and the pic only shows about a third of them. Its a couple hour canoe trip to get there so most people that live here don't even get to see it.

Ya, we were in a canoe. We usually paddle right up till the splash just to watch them all go in the water.

 Little story about the place.

The first time I went there we stopped on a little sand island around the corner for lunch. Now I didn't know what was around the corner. We had 2 dogs with us. The island was small with water all around so I figured I could let the dogs off leash for a minute and keep an eye on them. Well they saw some buzzards across the 12 foot canal seperating us from the area that leads around the corner to that hole. Before I could stop them they swam across to chase the buzzards and when the buzzards left they kept going. We swam across the canal and when we came around the corner gators were splashing in the water and the dogs were running straight toward a biggin. He was standing on alll fours looking at them with hungry eyes. I think he was trying to decide if he should grab one or be concerned about the crazy fools running behind the dogs yellin.  Well about the time the dogs got to him, he decided he should just go into the water. (One of the dogs was a lab) The dogs went right in the water behind him. Now mind you, seconds before the shore looked just like that picture. I ran into the water about 6-8 feet and grabbed them and got out. I had to find some safer water to clean my drawers out in.
If any of ya'll ever get down this way and want to check it out. Let me know I'll let you know how to get there and maybe come along if I can. Its only like that when the water is low. So there are not as many to see in the summer months.
