sick dogs????

this past weekend we had some pretty cold weather hit south la. i have 4 different buddies and each of them has a dog that has these following symptoms:

Rapid loss in weight, dog won't put pressure on hind leg, won't eat, and don't want to move at all.

does anybody have any idea's of what this could be?
could this be some kind of worm??

don't know what the hind leg has to do with any of the rest, but my dog had the other two symptons and we took him to the vet.  he had hookwarms.  we gave him 3ml of Panecure three days in a roll, and after 5 days he was like a new dog.

come to find out one of the dogs was ate up the heartworms and the other had a soft tissue infection in her back legs. don't know what the guy is going to do about the heartworms except pump him up with ivomec for a few days. my other buddie's dog was prescibed with a strong antibiotic that is going to knock it out
