Went out to a new spot with Grant, Dee, and Joe. We all brought a couple dogs each. Also had 3 other buddies  along for the hunt.  The landowner was complaining of hog problems and when Dee and Grant went out to scout it the day before on New Years Day, they both swear they saw a huge hog around 400-500 lbs.  They did not really bring enough dogs that day and it got away so this time we were coming back with the cavalry. Me and Grant left his house around 3:30pm and we got to drop the dogs out about an hour later.  Within 30 mins of dropping out we got a split bay.  By the time we got close to the dogs, it sounded like one hog was already caught by the curs, so we went to the other bay and PPC Eloy and Bella (Joe's AB) caught a medium sized sow.  One of the guys got a good video of it.  The sow looked around 160 or so.  Turns out the hog that the curs caught at the other bay was about twice as large, it was a pregnant sow around 280-300#.  By the time we dragged it out and tried to get some pics, the dogs were already bayed again.  Went to them and sent both the catchdogs out.  Caught a very large over 300# boar by a pond. At that point it was already dark so we didnt get any video of that one but both the catchdogs had it anchored down on both ears.  We got some pics of each hog and then cut the heads off so we could keep the skulls. Was probably finished hunting by 6:30pm. All and all it was a quick easy hunt with no dogs cut and 3 good sized hogs to show at the end of the day.  Then something crazy happened... we parked by the road and when we got back to the trucks most of the dogs were loading up when I noticed a car coming down the road.  Looked up in time just to see my cur dog Luke get slammed into by a red PT cruiser.  The jerk just drove off with me screaming at him. Luckily Luke got thrown 10 feet up in the air and ended up in front of the car and did not get dragged underneath it. He shook it off like it was nothing and looks fine today no limp or anything so I'm fortunate on that one.  Otherwise a great hunt! I can't wait until we go next time so I can catch ol' SUPER HOSS out there.

Dog injured or not, I think that I would have run that car down! What the hell possesses some A-holes to act like that? Just hauling ass with no regard for responsibility?

No, that pup is still too young to join us. It was Joe's AB Bella most likely that you saw on the leash.

At 6 mo. old I am taking it slow giving her teeth time to set in etc. especially since she is showing such good potential and the size of the herd and hogs I saw the other day scouting it.
WOW we actually posted a pic on here!! probably cause the hunt was so short and easy.

If you park by a road, how can you blame it on the other person when your dog gets run over?

Sure they didnt stop, sure they may have been driving to fast, sure they they they they they.................but take some respondsibliity yourself and learn something from this and dont park on the road.

It was a good hunt congrats, keep it up, just thing ahead.

We will have to pull down the drive some more next time to get farther from the road but in his defence its the only spot we can park and its not a paved city road or anything like that....all the house dogs chase you as you drive by etc. but at least his dog is ok. The fella should have probably done anything besides speed up but what should we expect now days  Huh?
