Dad and I made a little hunt on the 8th in the freezing weather.  We got started about 10:00 am wtih no reason to start early. Were hunting allong this set of woods that buts up against the Old Brazos with lots of deer feeders and hog sign around.  Dad had Monk and a young red gyp allong and I had Joe and Paris.  It was cold but not too bad just enough to make you stay moving and in the woods out of the wind.  I forgot my 30-30 so I was toting my single shot 22lr from behind my seat.  It did'nt take long and the dogs struck some hogs near the river,  but were split up, I heard paris open to the left and joe open to the right.  The hogs moved a bit and they ended up on one hog which crossed the river.  The dogs then bayed him right on the bank on the other side but in brush where I could not see what was going on.  Then they must have caught because it got quiet but I did'nt hear any squealing so I figured it was a good hog.  I hear some fighting going on and hollar at the dogs so they will back up and bay which they eventually do.  Then the hog decides to come back across the river so I got out my camera to take some pictures.  Once the hog got close I put up the camera but the hog set up in a brush pile in the middle so I waited for a bit for dad to show up with his 30-30 but he did not show. So then decided to kill the hog and get the dogs out of the cold water.  Lets just say ole 22 was not enough gun.  I Shot him right below the ear twice and once in the spine and it did not phase him much even though it was not that big of a hog.  Needless to say he did not like it and went back across the river.  Dad showed up right about this time.  So we got a boat went across and dad finished it.  Took some more pictures  it was a young boar about 150-160 with small teeth.  No dogs hurt.  I thought about starting a fire to dry and warm the dogs but we just kept hunting instead.   They Struck another hog on the top side of the same woods and he ran toward the Old river also.  They bayed him on this side luckily we got close and the hog moved a little but still on this side.  Ended up the crazy hog was sitting in the water with nothing but his head sticking out and the dogs were baying him from the bank.  I guess he figured the cold water was a better option than loosing his manhood to my Joe dog.  Dad shot him and joe jumped in the water as the hog sank and swam around then got hung up in some submerged vines.  Luckily there was a tree hanging over so I leaned out of it and pulled him to the bank.  I took his cut collar of and by the time we walked back to the truck it was frozen.  Did'nt get any pictures of this hog because he sank after dad shot him but looked to be another young boar about the same size.  Joe got a few nicks but nothing serious.

First hog after he started to come back across

The boat without a plug....had to get across fast

Not Sure what you mean?  The brindles are litter mates and turn 7 years old this month.
