There are pleanty one-breed dogs bustin bays out there also. Bay busters come in all flavors. Wink

X2 That is the TRUTH!

There are alot of general blanket statements that the pit half is going to make the dog catchy or rough.
That is only true if the the Pit side shows up in the offspring, go back and read the threads about breeding, you don't neccesarily get 50% of each dog in each pup. In other words mixing Red & Blue don't make your pups purple.

I have some on my yard, and I did not let them catch as pups, and now they don't catch until its time for them too. I have dogs without any bulldog in their bloodline that are stupid rough at times.
A friend of mine has a half pit/Half cur that the Pit is obvious in the looks of the dog and she will bay a 60lb shoat all day long. She definately is the one finding most of them too.
I don't particularily like my dogs baying something that small.

i have a half dogo half bmc...i know it isn't pit but it's catchdog. i like running two types of dogs at the same time. i like a looser baying dog that will lay teeth if the hogs move, and i like a dog that will catch anything under 100lbs. that way i have one dog baying and another controlling a 100lbs hog. if it is over 200 they  both need to be baying then i cut the dogo loose. it works for me. i don't mind a smart rough dog. don't like stupid rough dogs.

After reading this statement it occured to me that this discussion once again boils down to differences in styles. There are a few people who wouldn't run 2 different style dogs (loose, gritty) on the ground at the same time but it doesn't make doing any more wrong than a guy who wants to run a pack of loose dogs.  Tongue  laugh  It boils down to the guy who is putting the pack together to undertand what it is he is wanting and to build around that from an educated point in order to bring home his bacon.

A good friend gave me a pair of littermate pups when I first started hunting. They were perfect for me and I loved those dogs. One died of narcodia @ about 8 and the other lived until 12 when he had a heart attack.

A guy down the road gave me another and I like him. If something happens to the one I got I will be in the market for another.

Just run the ones that put the meat on the table are the hogs in the trailer.  Ruff, loose , tight not so tight, catchy they all got there faults .  I use to worry about all of this but figured out it just dont matter if you are catching and killing hogs then you know you got the right kinda dog  .

i tell you wat somebody show me a rule book on hoghunting until then i will continue running with and hunting with the crosses that work...for somebody to get on here and bash someone elses style of hunting is a lil bit chicken sh!t if you ask me...jmitchell wat you dont realize most ppl hunt hogs to protect their land and others land as well so ppl have to adapt and over come when it comes to THEIR OWN PERSONAL pack to do wat it takes to get the job done and get the hogs out... so please if you have the golden rule book of hoghunting plz post it so that we all may see it
