I am curious what changes in hunting people have noticed in their gyp after getting fixed.

A buddy of mine in Grand Cane, La has had a jam up beagle (rabbit and blood dog) for a while. He had her fixed not too long ago and I think she was 5 or 6 yrs old. It hasnt changed her at all. Thats my only experience. I have heard that neutering a male can change their performance, but then again I dont know. Guess different dogs can always have different reactions to a spay or neuter.

i did it to a couple dogs recently. i cant see a difference. i wouldnt do it in hopes of making the dog hunt better, but i would do it to keep them from comming in heat so you can hunt them all the time

Had a gyp fixed and she hunts the same if not better. and every thing in the woods is not trying to hump her all the time.

The only changes I have noticed is that they take less feed to keep their weight and I didnt worry about them "coming in" all the time. If she is not a breeder then its worth twice the money for me to have it done. Male or female.

If you are in the south part of Houston, Long Drive Animal Hospital has done an excellent job on my spays and neuters for a fraction of what my regular vet charges. Last time I was in there, I got a cur dog and a bulldog done for about $100 for the pair.

At least I'm successful at doing nothing right. I guess it could be worse.
