Howzit again everybody! Well I ended up having to make a change in my pack as my Bull/Whippet wasn't tracking her own pig like I had expected her to so I ended up giving her to my cousin who has a few great trackers and could use her as just a "seal the deal" dog. I have been chatting with Hog428 for quite awhile now about getting a dog from his blood here to the Big Island so I could give it my personal opinion and get to see his dogs work for myself. I got a 4 month old female from him on 3/25/2010 and so far I will say this, She is a ball of never ending energy and also already showing her intelligence and devotion towards me and my children. Within the first 2 days she hit my yard I already had her running around with my other 2 puppies and playing with my children in the yard and then on the 3rd day she was already understanding the "inside" your kennel command and is already staying in the kennel with the door open! She is definately a very smart dog! Like I mentioned she has ALOT of energy and as soon as anyone comes in my backyard her tail is going 200 mph and she is ready to play! I like when my dogs even as puppies want to venture away from me so when they do I do not call them back as they run to the front of the house and the same is with her, I will let her run to the front and then she will come back without me calling her and also will return when called! She is a great additon to my yard thus far and I look forward to letting everyone here know how she turns on in the forests.

She looks like she will be a "busy body" in the woods.  Good luck with her

Thank you for the responses and well wishes guys! I had family over last night for my sons Bday and they showed up just before it was time for her to get back in her kennel but with kids running wild around my yard she was having the time of her life chasing them and all the petting she was getting she was eating it up! From what Hog428 has stated about her mother I have no doubt she definately got that hyper trait from her mother. My plan for her is to spend the next few months making friends and then I will introduce her to a smaller sized pig and start honing in her tracking abilities, I will start teaching her to backtrack me in the next few weeks as I am already seeing her using her nose alot to check things out so I have alot of confidence she should be a natural at following my track and finding me in the bushes. I have my traps set up already and have a friend also trying to get a nice trainer size pig to introduce my puppies to as my oldest puppy is almost ready to get in the forests and get some real action soon!

I started taking Ha'ena with my 2 older dogs and another pup last month and so far she has seen 3 pigs stopped by the other dogs and then 2 weeks ago I took her with a friends dogs and being as she wasn't comfortable with them she stayed a little closer to me and didn't go out with them like she does with my dogs. As the other dogs went out on a pig I guess she sensed a pig making a run for it because she took off in a different direction and hit her own small boar. When I got her from Hog428 he along with my uncles gauranteed she would be all grab! Well me being me and having to "mold" the dog into what I know I can worked her to bark and she has been doing great at it until this boar! She had him by his sacks and screaming! I ain't gonna complain about that, It works and she was safe. I planned to take her again with my pack when we got home but 2 days after the little boar I went out to feed and her vulva was swelling! She is in heat right now as I type this, Hasn't attracted any neighborhood scrubs yet but I know in a few days they will start showing up. Her energy level is still through the roof and she is the gamiest dog I've got on my yard and believe me that says alot about her drive to me. She wants at anything! Butterflies, Birds, Mongooses, Cats or even a gecko!  laugh I have her broken off cattle and goats but she will grab a sheep!  laugh I posted a video on his site of her just hanging out in one of my kennels if anyone is interested in checking it out. I will keep everyone updated on her further progress and adventures.
