at what age do u cull a strikedog prospect? my yella bmc(outta good stock) is 14 maybe 15 mths old, when huntin with any other pups or 4wheeler dogs around he plays. like this mornin for instance, this mornin, cut loose under a feeder and good dog took of on a track, with a few other long range finished dogs, my yella dog took off and came back in 5 or 6 mins. older dogs struck and bayed, my yella dog tore butt to get to bay and bayed his fool head off as usual. leased tha older dogs and let some pups have a turn, he stayed in there and actually got hit a few times and for tha first time put his teeth on a pig instead of just bayin. wasnt real wild about that part but, guess it natural. killed tha pig and cut loose again. older dogs headed out and my pup hung around. do i cull him for not headin out with tha other dogs or is it just a maturity thing? opinions please.

Depends. Were the parent dogs earliy starters? Were they slow maturing?

ID GIVE HIM TILL HE IS ABOUT 2 YEARS OLD OR TILL HE STARTS TO MATURE AND STARTING TAKIN YOUR MAIN STIKE DOGS AWAY FROM HIM AND MAKE HIM START STARTING HIS OWN HOGS. JMO,I BET HE WILL MAKE A DOG IF HE LIKES IT ALREADY TAKE HIM EVERYTIME YOU GO AND RUN THE HELL OUT OF THEM IT SEEMS TO MATURE MINE ALOT FASTER

ya guys he loves it, just not sure he knows that he has a nose to find em with. im sure im rushin it a little, i just want him to take that next level. ive had more than one person tell me that yellow bmc usually dont "turn on" till 2yrs old? how tru is that?
