Maybe they are liberal democrats and think that the wrong name could damage the dog's psyche.

At a year or more , it seems it would confuse the dog to me. And if I got a new boss and he couldn't call me by my name I'd be giving him that your a dumb butt look, you know at some point the dogs were.

Either a dogs name sticks or I give it a name that it deserves or doesn't deserve. I kind of let the dog name itself then I can't change what I call it.

I bought a dog about 6 or 8 months old named "Ella" My fiance has a dog named "Bella" I changed the dog's name to limit confusion, but typically I would leave the dog's name the same. Maybe they just like the show "Jersey Shore" JK guys

respect.
i change nearly every dog's name, wether it was a good one or not.
i want a dog to respect me. when i get them home i change the name and fool with them until they learn it... after the initial learning and adjusting period, a dog will respect me, and understand that he is in my control, not anybody elses.

I had a dog that a guy gave me that should have been named Tinkerbell. That is the way he acted around a hog.
Then the fool tried to bite me. He went to the big hog hunt in the sky.
