Well I've been nagging Bump to take me hunting in the Hill Country for a while & it finally worked out last Monday.  He brought 3 Jagds & a catchdog.  I brought an Ugly Dog, and Old Dog, and borrowed bulldog.  We started off roading Coco & winding one of his Jags.  We drove a ways & decided to cast his other 2 Jagds.  They took off a WAYS  Shocked & bayed up a sow in a tank.  It was hard to tell how big the hog was, so we sent both bulldogs and in after them I go.  I didn't get to deep, but I should have worn shorts!

We regrouped and worked to a different part of the ranch.  We dumped my 2 dogs and 2 of his Jagds.  His 2 went one way and my 2 went another.  About 10 minutes later, the OLD dog Chunk was bayed solid at about 600 yards.  We started towards him and a group ran right in front of us.  Rex dumped a Jagd to keep up with them.  When it was all said & done, we had a shoat strung out.  After killing the pig, Rex realized his other 2 were sitting down a mile or two or ten away.  We got close and Rex snuck in with the video camera.  He called on the radio to send bulldogs, and we had a good sow caught.

After loading up and talking to some deer hunters, we drove across the county road to the other side of the place.  Coco and Chunk casted pretty good making an 800 yard circle.  His 2 looped a mile or so the other direction.  After they came back empty handed, we decided to go check out the river and call it a day.

On the way back to the truck, a group of small sows and shoats ran in front of us.  Rex had a fresh dog, so he kicked him out.  I walked to him and he would bark every once in a while, but was breathing hard like he was excited.  I heard some rustling close to him, so I radioed for bulldogs.  When Rex got to me, we were about 40 yards from Luke.  Luke started hammering again, so we sent bulldogs.  The hog broke with bulldogs on his Ar$e!!  After a nice run through the woods, we got to Jack caught.  The bulldog I brought latched on and I legged him.  We put Luke on the trail of some shoats, and he had bayed up a good one!

It was a great hunt.  All dogs hunted great and we ended up with some dead swine.

Nice rig

I vote for this to be the story of the year or at the very least the story of the week... I felt like I was there. The pictures are great, along with the story. That's the way you do it! Go for a hunt in God's country and got the pictures to prove it. That for sharing the great hunt with us.

Glad you came down Derick. I had a good time and always welcome for a hunt in these rocks.  Grin

I tried to video the third hog but as I got closer....one of my Jagds started getting brave and I could see he was really trying to test the hog. I couldnt tell it was a sow and saw it was fairly large. I raidioed Derick to cut the bulldogs loose before I got in good position. Ended being a sow and not much to worry about.

I like my shorts and tennis shoes Mike....and my laziness allows me to usually not walk far either. I will trade you a hunt but you can have those trees and swamps. I like me rocky hills.  Grin

Sounds like a ton of fun. Shorts? Just wear jungle boots. They have holes for the water to drain out. I gave up on dry feet a long time ago.
