I guess I need to find some more hunting buddies, nobody could go with me last night, so I went by myself. I went on my place and hunted out one set of woods with no luck but when I headed toward the second patch of woods the dogs got gone. I took Hannah, Red, and LJ, and it wasn't long before I heard Hannah (who is open on track) open and go to the neighbors place. I could tell with the tracking system that the other dogs were with her and they circled around and went back and forth for about 45 minutes in the neighbors woods. Every once in a while they would bay for a few seconds and then run again. Finally they lined out going west and I lost signal with the tracking system so I knew they were a ways off. I went back to the house and got in the truck and drove around on the road to where I thought they would be and got a faint signal. I drove on west another mile and got a good signal and could faintly hear them bayed across a farm field. I had no clue who owned the property but there was no gate so I pulled in and walked across the field to them. They were bayed right close to the edge so I cut the cds loose and followed them in. They caught the biggest pig yet for me. It was a sow in a creek and when I saw her I pulled my knife and stuck her. I wish I could have gotten her tied and drug out but there was no way by myself. I'm a bad judge of weight but my guess was about 275. She was the fattest sow I have ever seen. I had no camera of course lol and I'm not about to go back for pictures unless I find out who owns the land and ask permission. From strike to bay was about three miles as the crow flies, and LJ's sixth trip to the woods! I think hes going to make a hog dog! I'm glad to have this problem of going so far on a track, but I'm not sure what to do about it when they get that far off of my place. I have a couple thousand acres to hunt here but at the rate they were going last night it didn't take long to get off of that. Anyway, it may not be a big deal to some folks but for me I couldn't be happier with my dogs considering they are all pups. I guess at some point I have to stop calling them pups!

I agree with you Levi.....time for calling them pups is over. They probably don't qualify as 'finished' dogs but at this rate it won't be long til they do. Good job and I know how proud you are of your pack.

Cole you need to come hunt with me, I've been really getting into a lot of pigs. Of course I'm usually by myself which seems to be the only time I get on a good one.lol I sure hated to stick her, would have been a hundred dollar bill from the hog buyer!
