flea pills

this is probably old hat.... but have any of you guys tried capstar flea pills? my mom bought some about a week ago and said they worked great on her mutts. i bought some today and figured i would ask some of you what your thoughts are on them... good/bad?? i tried the bayer and it seemed to work but my dogs swim every day and the bayer seemed to wash off after the first swim. thanks for any advice

Peach, capstars work AWESOME, for 24 hrs. They loose all affect after 24 hrs. If you are looking for something long lasting that works as good as the capstar, look into Comfortis. I use it on both my girls and it is amazing.

thanks for the info i guess the lady at the feed store that sold them to my mother and i doesnt know what she is selling. she told us the capstar works for a month. I guess i should have asked you guys first...

Capstar only kills adult fleas and has no effect on larvae or eggs. Thus it is recommended to use this product in conjunction with another product which kills larvae/eggs.

thanks Dex i looked at the side affects and i thought to myself.... heck my dogs do all that suff already i dont want to double it.lol

the catahoulas dont seem to have a problem but my wifes POS maltipoo "squeezo" gets covered with fleas if he goes on a run with the big dogs. squeezo is all white and fluffy like a cotton ball i think the fleas are attracted to white so they single him out.

We have been using Comfortis for a couple years now. Been pleased with the results. My vet buddie told me a month or so ago, that they will have an all in one product out soon. Comfortis + tick med + heartworm prevention.

Don't waste your time and money on anything but the Comfortis.

I tried everything for years with fair to poor results. I used the comfortis on all my dogs. No side effects and I only gave them 1/2 of the recommended dose. I used it for 2 months and have not had to use it again for 6 months. It is worth every penny.

I got it from a place on the web out of Australia with no RX. I got the biggest pill I think it is 60-100lbs.

For 7 dogs it cost me $100 and after a year I still have some left over.

I have a little silver pill that works wonders for barking dogs.



I don't actually shoot the dogs, I shoot the top of their barn/ kennels. The "tink" sound it makes as the bb hits the metal panels shuts them up.

i have a group of hogs that have been coming through my place at night and at 1 am i just cant put clothes on and go get everthing ready and get to work in the morning... i hope they stick around until friday night.. the nieghbor lady down the street stopped by the other day and said she saw 20 pigs and that two of them were AT least 700 lbs hopefully i can find out

I work for a vet and we recommend Comfortis to all our clients. It works wonders and is a lifesaver for my rottie that is flea allergic. That being said, as with humans, there are some individuals that react adversely to any medication. That is why it is important to monitor your pet after administering any new medication to them. If anyone has ever taken the opportunity to look up the adverse reactions that can occur with the use of vaccines, including rabies, it would make you second guess using them as well.  I also need to add that it is VERY important that the Comfortis dose be given with food. The protein in the food helps with the absorption of the medication. Hope that this helps and this is only my opinion.

If your dog vomits up a dose of comfortis, it has been my understanding that comfortis reimburses you that dose.

We love comfortis. Used it three times this year and no fleas still. I haven't  doses the dogs since the wounded warrior hill country hunt, whenever that was... I dose our dogs by using the largest pills, crushing them  up and dividing the dose in half. Depending on weight, each dog gets about half a pill. I crush them up and mix well just in case the spinosad isn't spread evenly within the pill.

I USE COMFPRTIS AND IT IS THE BEST THING I HAVE EVER SEEN/USED EVER. WORKS WONDERS.
