Me and a fella dog hunter that is working down here by the house all the way from Virginia were sitting around the kennels on Saturday March 12 talking dogs and looking at some impressive bear photos that he had harvested this past season when he asks me if we could go hunting on Sunday because Monday was his birthday and he always makes a birthday hunt of some kind. I looked at him and told my birthday was on Sunday and that sounds like a plan to me. So we got everything loaded up and ready to go for in the morning. Well ended up being Chuck, CJ (and some fine young lady he brought), Tommy, Will, and I for the hunt and everyone was on time. After riding around to a few spots we finally found some decent tracks and dumped out the dogs. Chuck and Tommy had taken my AJ dog and gone scouting on the otherside of the property. Chuck calls and tells me they had a bay but it broke and now they are running a nice boar. About the time I looked down and saw JW bayed about 750yds away. So I drove around to JW and turned all the dogs loose and we began making our way down to them, when all of sudden we had hogs running right at us and CJs little friend got a little nervous. As luck would have it Sugar stopped one right at our feet and Will grab it, and gave it a poke and we started towards the second bay about were we dumped the dogs out. I loaded up the Lilly (Jagd) and Blaze (bulldog) and started towards them. When we stopped we saw one of those sows going back the other way so I held Lilly up in the air and when her legs started moving I dropped her and she looked like a tomahawk missle heading for that hog. We got the second one caught and poked then we started back towards Lilly, witch was showing treed. As we got closer we heard the pig squealing and to our suprise she had that sow caught by the rear and it was trying like the dickens to shake her off. Released Blaze and another done deal. Then we look down and the curs were about a mile away and still moving so we loaded up and headed that way. When we got there Chuck and Tommy were already there and Tommy took upon himself to run in and shoot that hog so all the dogs shut down except AJ. He was almost 2 miles away and still moving, so Will and I headed that way. After about a total of thre miles AJ had a boar that wasnt in that sounder, bayed up and we turned all the dogs to him and caught another good eating hog. To sum it up it was a GREAT Birthday hunt and we were done before lunch which made it even better. Will was thrilled and that boy can sure butcher a hog. I timed him on one of them and he skinned it, quartered it, back straps and tenderloins, also cut out the ribs as well as the Chime in 12 minutes flat!!!! That is IMPRESSIVE!!!!! Joey
