I got a call last week from a buddy who said his boss was begging him to come hunt his deer lease and try to get some hogs run out before next deer season. We dropped the dogs about 6:30 and walked for about 15 minutes into this bottom and there was hog sign everywhere. Red opened up bayed and we went to him and caught a sow that went 145. He rolled out and caught a shoat about 100 yds. away and we let my bmc pups play with it a little since it was there first trip to the woods. Red rolled out from there and went about 150 yds. and struck, and bayed at 400. we went to him and caught a good boar that went 195 with a nasty attitude. All this took less than an hour. Getting the hogs out took a lot longer than that. The sow wasn't too bad, but the boar we had to carry 350 yd. to the 4 wheeler. We cut a sapling and carried him out on it. It was a good hunt and really good for the pups. They are just 7 months old and didn't know what was happening at the first bay but picked it up quick.

My bmc pups with the shoat.

Ok, just be sure to bring a big gun! No, he sure does suit me the way he hunts. My LJ pup actually struck first the other day. They hit some sign and went different ways and Red must have back trailed. LJ rolled out to about 375 and bayed by himself but when we were headed there it broke and he came back to me. It kind of dissapointed me but he's just a year old and hasn't been out that much so maybe he'll still make it.

Yeah, the sow we caught in switch cane so no pics in that stuff, and I could have taken a cool pic of the boar bayed but all I was thinking about was getting him caught. Also Red is putting on training clinics. For a small fee he will show your dogs all there is to know about catching skunks!
