I have a 6month old BMC puppy that shows no interest to a live hog. However he will find a hide that i will drag in the yard and put it in a batch of woods by the house.  I put him in a pen with a 25lb shoat and he acted like he was afraid of it. Any suggestions is greatly appreciated.

My pup was the same way at that age. No interest in the pen but would trail the scent. I got her interested by training her in the woods. I got the idea from one of the other members. What I did was tie a 2x4 to the back leg of a shoat and would turn it loose and let the dog chase it. After a while the 2x4 will get hung up on the brush and you'll be able to start the process over. keep in mind at that age that less is more. Don't over work your pup... Keep em wanting more. Hope that helps!

I would't say starve the pup just miss a few feedings. Do the same with the piglet. Put them inside a small dog pen with food and see what happens..Maybe something will turn on after a few times..

Training dogs is not about quantity, it's more about timing, the right situations, and proper guidance...After that it's up to the dog...

i heard of a guy at one time raised pups from about the age of 8 months to 12 months of age in a 1 acre pen with some hogs and would only feed a 50lb sack of feed twice a week survival of the strongest i suppose, and i was told that the dogs that made it HATED hogs
