My Chub dog, Shiner's full sister... comin' on strong all of a sudden....  Shocked Grin

My Mako dog(Shiner's son), trying to pay attention as my daughter Fin shows him how to dig a proper hole...  Grin

Tiger, Shiner's daughter, as athletic as athletic gets.... she's the one with the ruptured tendon, you can see the bump on the front of her front left leg... just above her ankle.... never bothered her, just swells up every once in a while...

All really good looking dogs with a very athletic build. I really like Tiger's looks. How old is Chub and when you say coming on strong, do you mean that she has more drive now?

Thanks yall, DJ, Chub and Shine are around 3.5 yo now...

For the first 3yrs of Chub's life she's always been a real short range, rough, almost running catch dog... never an independent hunter...

for the last few months she's decided to start hunting on her own, trailing, and most shockingly... BAYING  Grin

Something defenitely clicked in her brain... whatever it was, I'm glad!!!

They all look like some athletic freaks... Kinda like me Smiley I love them! What was the bird dog bred into Shine and Chub.. Hog dog or bird?? I have access to some top of the line English pointers that are quail phenoms and always thought they could produce gems crossed with the correct hog dog

English Pointer bird dog, but they turned her into a real solid hog dog before breeding... her main fault was she'd yip a bit once she jumped a hog... a trait that shows it self in varying degree in about 2/3 of this line... tolerable, just undesireable

I feel the pointer/cur cross is ideal for smaller property hunting... you can hunt a thousand acres all day with one and not worry about your dog leaving the county... most of the time  Grin

The hustle/go that a EP throws is really fun to hunt with, picking one out that's built right for hoggin' is the key I think... at least that's what I'll be lookin' for the next one I cross back in

A buddy of mine did a cross similiar and they all turned out as red leopard as red leopard gets.  he even "line bred" the dogs again and they all came out red leopard, hes got three generationa and everyone that dont know no better will argue with him till they are blue in the face they are pure leopard. Cheesy  Most of them made dang good dogs but the yippin did come out in prob a third of the pups..  His are built like your chub dog, stocky and block headed.. Must be the cur..  Damn fine looking dogs and from your posts they know their job.. Wanna trade for some pot lickin coon/dillo dogs?? lol

The pups are looking good Noah!

They sure tightened up and lost that "puppy" look from when I saw them.

Sorry it took so long to reply, we are out of town and I forgot my password. Im glad that you told me that. I kept 3 pups out of my litter and one of them started hunting right away. She will just take off and go. She has only been on a few hogs so far but she has lots of want to. The other two are slow to start but they are 9 months now so I think that I will give them more time. The other two still have a lot of play and puppy in them. The one that is doing really well seemed to be settled even as a young pup. I wish that I had more patients! Sad  Only time will tell.

I like those pups Bud,....I think you're on the right track here. Glad Shiner seems to have come out of this ordeal fairly unscathed. Good luck with the pups.
