A couple of buddies called about noon on Friday wanting me to go hunting.  I already had plans for a hunt Saturday morning, but facing a 90% chance of rain I decided to go ahead.  We left the house aboout 1:30 and on the way to where were going to hunt we saw three groups of hogs from the highway.  Game was definately moving mid-day!  I was about 200 yards from the turn in gate when I again noticed about 10 hogs standing in the ditch.  I hit the brakes and they all took off past the fence and into the woods.  I jumped out and grabbed the first dog I could get my hands on in the back of my truck and threw him out.   He ran around the truck one time, threw his head up and hauled tail right into where they went.  I jumped back in the truck and motioned for the guys who had followed me in their own vehicle "let's go!".  We turned in the gate, parked and unloaded four wheelers, etc as fast as possible and started off in the direction they had left.  Tracked the dog and finally got within hearing distance of a solid bay.  Turned a few more dogs out and waited for them to disappear before firing up and heading that way.   Finally got close enough to send in the catch dogs and the result was this red boar.  Weighed 210 on the hoof.  We had one young dog we had to work on a little, but nothing too major.

I like those good fast hunts!
