I've got a big rat terrier that I've had for 5 1/2 years and love him more than a lot of my family members. A lot of people want puppies out of him and I do too but I'm looking for just the right dog to breed him to. I really want to cross him with a Jack Russel. He bred the neighbor's JR a while back and made some good looking dogs. They don't shed like a rat terrier and they hunt just like him but they have shorter legs. I'm really wanting a female with medium to long legs and not little short legs. I like them to be able to run fast and jump in the back of the truck. If anyone knows of any let me know. Just tryin to hook my little buddy up with some tail!

Here's my dog Woody! I love showing him off... especially in the woods.

Good looking rat terrier, where did you get him from, how many squirrels has he treed??  I would go to squirrel dog central and look for a fiest from treeing lines to breed him to if it was me, most fiest over there own tons to rat terriers and lots of them are actually rat terriers but regegistered as fiests due to too many rat terriers being bred for pet sales now days.

There's no way of knowing how many squirrels he has treed. It may be in the tens of thousands. That's what he does all day every day. He's bayed more hawgs than any of my curs also. Mainly because he's always with me.

I got one too bobcat,...my rat terrier is about 12 or 13 now and slowed down a little bit. They're a special dog that have no equal when it comes to focus. If you had 6 rat terriers that weighed 50 lbs. each....what do you think you could catch? I've always said that they could catch an elephant if one came up in their yard. He's a good looking dog.

i would breed him to a fiest really or maybe a mt cur to get the legs in him, maybe after the cur bred you could breed a daughter back to him to save the terrier

i might try finding a rat terrier with decker blood in it. ive seend decker blooded rat terriers as big as 42 pounds. and these dogs arent short legged either. ive been hunting around rat terriers for about 15 years now and saw 2 that were as good a strike dog  that we would ever want for the type hunting we do. one of these 2 strikin rats hunted for many years on 3 legs and was finnaly killed by a hog that cut his liver out.

Hey! Sorry I just now seen your reply. I'd like to know more about them. I don't really know much about the breed but I've heard others that really like them.
