My buddy Jake and I went back on Monday night to the place where I caught that good hog I posted last week. I just took pups and Jake brought 2 well started dogs since we knew there would be hogs close. One of Jakes dogs struck about 100 yd. in the woods and they ran this hog up and down the creek for a while. He finally lost them around some pools down in the woods. My guess is he swam out in the middle and sat down. One of my pups bayed for a few barks when she got to the pool and then the garmin showed her running back and forth on the edge for a while before they all came back.
They left back out to the area they started that hog in and struck another one. It was strange though, they started baying like they should but were slowly moving ahead the whole time. They came by us fairly close really slowly, like at a walk, baying the whole time so we sent Jakes little pit cd that I gave him and a young cd of mine. When they hit the hog it broke and ran to the same set of three pools that the first pig did where they caught again. We were headed to them in a hurry as they were about 250 yd. away but they didn't stay caught very long at all and started coming back. They beat us back to the truck and we noticed on the garmin that some of them kept stopping every once in a while, then continuing toward the truck. When we started checking dogs we saw why. Jakes dog that struck was cut pretty bad once and his little cd had about five or six small cuts. Almost all the dogs that were there were cut to some degree and the others were sore and limping like they got body slammed or something. I knew I should have sent more catch power but these dogs have held some good pigs so I wasn't too worried. I guess it must have been a good one though. All the dogs will live to hunt another day with a few staples and tlc. Next time I go over there I will be prepared for battle though!

Well at least you're getting to hunt Levi......it's hotter than the front door to hell here...may be there too, but it's too hot for me to go, don't want to heat stroke a dog in this. Y'all just got on one of those hogs that wants to walk and fight....glad your dogs will recover though. You'll get back on this one sometime soon and clean his clock for him. Good luck.
