Great Hog and Even better looking pack of dogs!  Where did that jagd come out of?  I been thinking about getting me one of those rangers since I drove one a while back.  I believe your pics just sealed the deal for me.  Is that rack on the front custom or did you buy it aftermarket?

Thanks all for the kudos, comments etc.  It was alot of fun.

JHY - I know that the Ranger's front rack is a custom one designed by a friend of Rex's - really nice setup he's got there. I'll have to defer to Rex (Bump) or James (Longshot) to talk about the jagds and their pedigrees/breeders etc. I'm just the guy that hunted with them.  I've been interested in jagds for some time, but don't own one.

I'm still hunting them 2 old hounds and they haven't let me down yet.  I've taken on a new young dog to replace my old mountain cur (Tweety) that I retired recently - so I've got some fresh energetic legs on the ground to harass and annoy the 2 old dogs too ;-)

JHY

I had three Jagds on this hunt. My best dog is Luke, the rough coated dog. He is my oldest and most experienced but only 13 months old. He came from Kentucky, James Mills. I just got on the internet one day and starting looking.

Then a few months later decide I wanted another....so I started looking again and found my youngest pup from a lady in Oregon, Cindy Gibbs.

Last October went with Longshot (James Reasoner) and bought two more older pups. Those came from a guy in south Texas who James bought out.

They are around but can be difficult to find. If you want me to get you a few websites.....let me know.

The ranger is the best hunting investment I have made. I like hitting an area picking up and moving. It also allows me to be lazy and drive to the bays, but has enough room to handle people, dogs and gear. The front rack was made by a friend here in Lampasas. He did a good job. I cut the front section out on monday so my Jagds can bail off easier. I do a lot of driving and let the Jagds ride up front and wind.

Cumberland Gap Kennels,  Croatian imported lines, I think.  Got a buddy in South La. that got one from him and is crossing it with Scott Alls blood currently.  (Litter of pups on the ground but I havent got my hands on one of these yet.)  I got a Jagd, but he jacked around and got a career ending injury on a big boar, so he is a yard dog that you catch a glimpse of every now and then.  But there isnt any problems with varmits around my buddy's place.

Hunted this morning with a Prowler and Rhino.  I think that the Rhino is what will work better in my terrain around here.  They seem to be a little more compact and manuever through the woods a little easier.  It was nice to just ride and not fight with steering a fourwheeler.  Reminded me of when I made the switch from horses to fourwheelers! Smiley   Will have to get a rack like that one made for sure.  Thanks for the info.
