I had the same problem Brad....call Garmin and tell them what it's doing, they'll want you to change the update rate and check to see if it has the lastest version of software in it. I did all that and mine still would drop communication with the Astro 220 at random times. The guy said that he would send me a replacement antenna for the collar and if that didn't cure the problem I'd have to send it back. I got the antenna in a couple of days,.....replaced the old one with it....I also updated the collar info on the 220....problem soved...it hasn't done it since....hope this helps.

i have 7 dc 30's    i have had my gps wire on my 30 cut into and one i have is having problems now    not sure what the deal is     i think its something with the gps        mine are well used tho     i am happy with my 30's      partner that hunts with me got a dc 40 when they first came out and it cuts out of service starting at around 400 to 500 yards when my 3o's are picking up    and now he has one the newer ones and it will range out long ways
