How did you loose them to heat?? they looked in good shape and in a wooden whelping pen, did the gpy quit nuring them or have no milk or something else like fire ants got to them?? Sure looked healthy in that picture. Sorry about the loss.

Sure hate to hear that bud. This heat is tough on newborns.

No I had them in an open box that was just about right and they were doing well. Guess the gyp didn't like it and moved them to a dog house that was in the sun. I should have taken it out but have a chance of rain and storms so left it in there for that and well my big mistake

I fill milk jugs or 2 litter bottles with water, freeze them, and swap them out when it is really hot.

Gees, thats horrible, i have a terrier pull that every once in a while, i locked her up after that deal but now i have to have her on the porch with a fan and in a offground hutch type deal, dont trust her after that deal, sure sucks.

Ive been putting a frozen gallon of water in the pool my pups are in, in the shade with a fan. I have been using two a day and re-freezing the gallon jug. They gather around it to help regulate their temp.
Hope that helps

If they are crying it is too hot for them...

i had a litter brindle bmc about 4.5 weeks ago now. i noticed the mom not staying in the dog house much and the pups crying alot i put a big fan infront of the house for the pups and they had shade all day. before i new it 6 were dead so i pulled the other 4 out at 3 weeks old because i thought her milk was bad or she was to hot to nurse them. i put them on dyne for 7 days by a small drench gun and started soaking their food in the dyne-water mixture and they started eating a little, today they are fatter than a pig and going good. so not sure now if the milk was bad or was just the freaking heat but i have 4 good looking brindle blackmouth pups that will make it now.
