Noelle, The dog your talking about cant hunt but when he is not sound. If he spends time out to heal up then he cant hunt.If he keeps getting cut he will end up dead you said earlier you are haveing a hard time getting dogs to live to be one year old. Now I know that is your style cause you been breeding them for 40 years and that is fine with me. But I dont like a good strke and bay dogs to have to deal with getting that close. I said there are some that got enough brains to be rough by that  I mean they can wiegh look at teeth and count how many there are. Then decide how they can stop them with out gettig cut up. Those are the ones you would trade  truck for. I wont trade much of a truck for one thats all scared up and  my not make it home from first hunt. When you her hunters say I got a really good old dog. You very seldom hear them say and they dont make one he cant catch. BTW do run vest on your dogs?Everybody hunts little different I just dont like not bieng able to  go hunt cause dogs are all whacked up.

thats the good thing bout havin a dog that will find and catch hogs on its own and not owning help dogs... got 3 more thatll do the same when one is whacked up Wink and to answer your question shep no i dont run vest on them, too hot and they dont maneuver as good, I have put a vest on the old dog a couple times when i was called to bring him to catch a couple dog killers that couldnt be caught... which i caught btw Grin and to clear the record the line I started with is over 40yrs old, i been breedin them 19yrs and i dont consider it my line cuz i started breeding someone lsed line of dogs and kept it goin till my last male died and started using the big male out of k.d.burks stock a few yrs ago which has sum same blood Wink

Hey if you can keep them alive. And dont run out of dogs to hunt then you got it going on. I have to go along way to get to my loose bayers. And be pretty sneeky when i do get there. The bad thing is we have been on several bunches of hogs in this hot weather the  dogs get  little off there game and I been sewing them up. Put back guts then a lung. Both on my #1 strike dog that wont catch a baby pig.

Lets see some pictures of the dog with all the scars. I looked through your other post and can't find one. I like to see one you can read all the war storys. Just by one look at them.

Noelle,

Out of curiousity, how old are you?   Huh?

how do yall break your dogs from bein extremely rough or is it bred in them and just gotta live with it?

I like em extremely rough  Wink  I own 3 dogs. The 2 males are all catch & a female that catches first & if it's a rank hog she will back up about 2 inches & bay till another dog gets there. I can take any of the 3 by their self & catch hogs. I like it when i'm hunting solo I just have to handle one dog not 2 or 3.
