they were caught in sc.upstate.not all are that wooly due to people dumping hogs from down state.the old stock in the mountains was wooly like this.like i said before they almost all run.it just depends on the dogs.last year most races were around 900 or better yrds.ive had dogs run a couple hrs before that i had wrote off and theyed come up with the hog.

John, thanks for mentioning that people have dumped in different hogs, that is exactly what has happened in my county but we dont ever see a russian hog at all now down here, used to be about all ferals, then 50 50  russins mix then it went to all black vs the almost tame ferals with no teeth, wish we had them for sure, when I started in the 60's we used foxhounds to run them as not many at all and when they were struck they ran off in a line like a deer, it was common to run them a mile a least sometimes 2 or 3 until they got hot and bayed up or got to a thicket, ranches used to be all unlocked and nobody cared and was actually happy to see dog hunters on there ranch as if something was wrong we told them about water or cows or whatever out of place, the big deal was to go by and offer the landowner the hogs after skinning them, sometimes they took every one sometimes they did not want them, boy how things have changed for the worse in so many ways.
